Lauren Crazybull and Jas M. Morgan

Lauren Crazybull is a niitsítapi, Dené painter who lives and works in Vancouver. She is currently an MFA graduate student at Simon Fraser's School for the Contemporary Arts. In her work, Lauren considers Indigenous presence and multiplicity through paintings, often portraiture, creating worlds where honest portrayals trespass onto romantic representations of Indigeneity. In 2020 Lauren won the Eldon and Anne Foote visual arts prize and in 2019, she was selected as Alberta's first artist in residence. Lauren’s work has been shown at various galleries across western Canada and exists in public collections in Alberta.
